PERFORMANCE SURF

A fast, dedicated surf shape with smooth turning and loads of projection, allowing a powerful vertical attack in down the line waves. Developed for surfing and engineered for kitesurfing, the Charge rides like a high-performance surfboard. Turning hard in the pocket and releasing on demand, it excels in carving, has fantastic upwind drive for onshore riding, and is versatile enough to pop strapless freestyle tricks with ease. The Carbon Innegra Futurelite system maximises strength without compromising flex or responsiveness. Our full deck grip with front and rear kicks gives maximum comfort and control. What We Like

  • The North Charge works awesome for top to bottom performance kitesurfing.  The shape and sizes are user-friendly for the average Joe, but good kitesurfers will really appreciate how hard this board rips.  It rides through chop well and feels naturally balanced under your feet. There is little to no adjustment period to riding this board.
  • The rails and tail of the Charge are really nicely foiled and tuned. This lets you burry the rail on turns and rides smoothly through chop.
  • The Futurelite construction is super high tech and give you the right amount of flex, strength and response.  The net result is that this is a production board that rides like a custom.
  • The EVA deck pad is really comfortable and grippy.  They mounted it far enough back that when you turn you can push hard off the kick tail and get the board rip around.  The front foot ridge gives you feed back in turns and airs so you don't slide off the front of the board.
  • The EVA inserts under your heels absorb vibrations from chop and smooths out the ride.
  • The Charge goes upwind well and is easy to turn hard on a flat or steep wave. This is really hard to accomplish since most kitesurf boards that go upwind are oftentimes really stiff in the turns. North found the right balance of upwind to turning with the Charge.
  • The addition of inserts is great for the big days to add on straps. We don't recommend jumping with straps as flat landings in foot straps can potentially break the board.

 What We Don't Like

  • North did you a solid by including a nice set of honeycomb fins, but they are FCS Classic fins. You need to use the set screws and shims to use these fins in the FCS2 boxes. They ship with size LG fins which are a little big for the 5'7 too. We recommend getting a good set of FCS2 fins so you can appreciate the ease of toolless fins. Also, FCS is making some great fins that will tune up the performance of this board even more.
  • These boards ride bigger than the size says on the bottom.  Don't make the mistake of going too big on this board, or it will feel bouncy.
  • Some surfing purists complain about the full pad and the inserts.  The pad is thin and plush so you really don't lose much performance by having it.

Why you want the North Kiteboarding Charge

This is a really sick kitesurf board. It rides small and large waves equally as well. The construction is state of the art and you will feel the difference on your first tack off the beach.
